For those that are close to the Tarrytown, or perhaps further abroad with a keen interest to learn, the Curator of Kykuit of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund offers the following Intern position at the Japanese Garden at Pocantico:

Internship with the Rockefeller Brothers Fund
Position:    Intern/Japanese Garden at Pocantico

Kykuit, the Rockefeller estate, near Tarrytown, has gardens that were first planned in 1908 in a landscape designed by William Welles Bosworth.  Today, they have evolved to include a rose garden, a perennial brook garden, a formal boxwood parterre, a Japanese Garden and many container plantings.
The intern would work with a horticulturist to maintain and enhance the historic plantings of the Japanese Garden.

Responsibilities include:
Planting, pruning and pinching back shrubs and groundcover.
Weeding and trimming shrub and groundcover areas.
Planting and/or preparing areas for planting.
Shearing and pruning, under the supervision of the gardener.
            Time frame:   May through October
       Preferably five days/week

Send a statement of interest  and resume to:
Cynthia Bronson Altman
Curator, Kykuit
200 Lake Road
Tarrytown, New York 10591
my suggestion would also be to gather information of the garden and scale;
------> for a glimpse of the garden etc, please enjoy/read the PDF download article by Cynthia Bronson Altman : The Japanese Garden at Pocantico

and is a good (historic+) read for others as well
         good luck to the applicants,

Thanks, Edzard.  I will visit the site this weekend!
