Hello everyone,
I'm a master gardener who just started volunteering at the Portland OR, Japanese garden. Right now I'm renting so all my plants are in containers, but within the next 3 years I will be buying property to do what ever I want with. I hope to stay in the pacific northwest (USDA zone 7B - 8B) but we'll see what happens after my fiance graduates law school. Right now I'm just growing things up to a decent size to later plant. Sometimes I think I have more plants than furniture. I'm always looking for something new or unusual. I would eventually like to design I Japanese garden for myself that incorporates edible and native plants, but I want to learn much more about proper form and aesthetics, as well as pruning techniques long before I come to that point.
This is such a wonderful resource!
Thank you so much.

Welcome, Katie.  I remember the days when i had more plants than furniture!  It was great!  I like your plant to incorporate natives and edibles.
