Greetings fellow Japanese Garden lovers!
I am posting from Rochester, NY, but the garden I am will be making is near Powell River, BC Canada, at my second (dream) home. I would love to hear from others in my zone about reading to get me through the winter and plant materials suitable for a Japanese influenced garden. Existing is an ancient (60 year old) boxwood hedge enclosing a small rectangular plot - I plan a gravel main path and stepping stones branching off....Any advice about initial ground preparation would also be greatly appreciated...including any advice on using this forum for help with starting from a bare plot. With thanks! cmjones
Wow! Lucky you to be in BC and have a blank canvas!
There are gardens in that neck of the woods that will give you an idea of what plants will succeed for you. AND some of our folks here on the Forum live not too far away.

You also may find the garden finder of jgarden.com useful for what is nearby. Here is one link
Welcome to the forum. Why dont you post a picture or two, or maybe a drawing of your garden space in the Projects or Private Garden forums? That makes it easier for people to give suggestions!
