The Marzahn Park, north-East Berlin, is dedicated to the Gardens of the World. There are several gardens with different styles: Chinese, Korean, Indonesian, Arab, Italian etc., and more are under construction.
The beautiful Japanese garden, designed by Shunmyo Masuno, was added in 2003.
The approach is similar that of Shugakuin: a narrow path bordered by high hedges leads up a small hill.  From the top there is a view of the garden below, then the path descends along a stream studded with rocks, and reaches below a pavilion facing the karesansui  枯山水. Some large flat rocks break the space and give a sense of depth to the garden. The site is very pleasant and harmonious.
