One down.
April 2008. A veritable forest where the garden is to go. Here a small cedar has been felled to begin the clearing. About 70'.n

Three down.
The biggest one to go. A 125' Douglas fir, enough firewood for a year for us.

Old fallen tree.
This is the remains of an old, but small cedar that had sprouted several branches which turned themselves into trees. One was more than 50' tall.

Old hollow stump.
When we came here in '96, the tree that was on this stump was already leaning over into another huge fir. When we took the other one out, this one followed.

Chair for wife.
You can see the hole being dug for the future pond here. The chair is for the superintendant.

Fine pine.
This Tanyosho pine was put in the ground about 5 years ago. Further on you will see another put in a different area. This one is OK, the other one is pretty sad. My fault for not giving it a better home.

Nice granite rock.
A 600 lb. pebble which had to be removed from the pond area. I am hoping to find a home for it close by so I don't have to move it too far.

Cedar root.
This was one of three tree roots which had to be pulled out. When everything has to be done by hand, and alone, it's an awful lot of work.
